This video by Vox pulls together various studies to show the relationship between attractiveness and pay. The highlights: —Beautiful people are seen as more competent, kind, and trustworthy. —Even NFL quarterbacks make more the more symmetrical their faces are. —Taller people earn $789 more a year per inch. —Weight also appears to be a factor for women, with pay going down as their BMI increases. This all can feel a little disheartening, especially when it comes to things that we can’t change like height. But what I take from this is putting effort into looking pulled-together and chic is not only worth my time and effort but essential to meeting my workplace goals. Now excuse me while I go fuss over my eyeliner—it’s for my job.
